Polish architects are creating stunning buildings in a traditional style: 7 best studios you should know

Traditional-style houses are becoming increasingly popular in Poland, and many architectural studios are eager to design them. Traditional architecture not only has a unique charm but also enriches the local landscape, making a house feel like an integral part of its surroundings. Numerous Polish studios specialize in this type of design, showcasing dozens of beautiful projects on their websites. Here is a selection of seven studios that particularly excel in creating traditional homes.

1. Polska Drewniana

Polska Drewniana, run by Piotr Olszak, designs homes inspired by the historic architecture of Masuria. The studio draws on regional patterns, combining wooden and brick elements of traditional buildings with modern 21st-century standards. Polska Drewniana offers both ready-made designs and custom projects. Piotr Olszak is also a promoter of regional architecture, author of books about Masurian buildings, and often speaks publicly about the subject.

While Maciej Olczak also designs modern homes, he loves traditional styles. He frequently incorporates regional forms such as half-timbered (Prussian) walls, Masurian architecture, and Świdermajer villas, creating houses that harmoniously blend historic charm with modern comfort. His website showcases a wide range of projects in this traditional spirit.

Why polish studios love designing traditional homes?

Designing in a traditional style allows studios to combine the beauty of regional architecture with modern solutions. These homes fit harmoniously into their surroundings, use natural and eco-friendly materials, and provide comfort to residents. Wood, stone, and brick give each house a unique character, while contemporary building technologies make it possible to combine classic forms with 21st-century functionality.
